Eight-Year-Old Boy in Critical Condition Following Theatre Stampede in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Dec 5 (NationPress) The health status of an eight-year-old boy who was injured during a stampede at a theatre in Hyderabad on Wednesday night amid the premier of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ is still critical, according to medical professionals on Thursday.
Tragically, his mother lost her life, and he sustained injuries in the incident that took place at Sandhya Theatre located at RTC X Roads.
The chaos erupted when the police resorted to a lathi charge to manage the crowd of fans eager to see actor Allu Arjun, who was present for the premier.
A woman and her son fainted amidst the stampede and were promptly transported to a medical facility. Police officers administered CPR on the boy prior to his transfer to the hospital.
Sadly, the woman passed away at the hospital in the early hours of Thursday. She was identified as Revati (39), a resident of the Dilsukhnagar area of the city, while her son Sriteja is currently receiving treatment.
KIMS Hospital released a statement on Thursday indicating that the boy was admitted in a semi-conscious state, exhibiting low oxygen levels and irregular breathing, which required immediate intubation and ventilation.
“A CT scan of the brain and spine indicated no significant issues. While lactic acidosis has improved, the child’s awareness remains compromised. His condition is still critical, and he is under intensive care with constant monitoring as the medical team strives to stabilize him,” the hospital elaborated.
The child’s dire condition is thought to stem from extended unresponsiveness, potentially leading to severe hypoxia and possible lung damage from aspiration or bruising. Quick CPR from bystanders and police was crucial in reviving the child, allowing for further medical attention, the hospital mentioned.
Revati had attended the theatre with her husband Bhaskar, son Sriteja, and daughter Sanvi. Both Bhaskar and Sanvi were unharmed.
Bhaskar recounted that they visited the theatre because of his son’s admiration for Allu Arjun. He noted that his family entered the theatre when the crowd was manageable, but once Allu Arjun arrived, the surge of fans led to the stampede.
The family is urging that Allu Arjun should assist them in their time of need. They are also demanding accountability from the theatre management for their negligence.
In the meantime, the Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU), Telangana State Committee, is calling for the immediate arrest of Allu Arjun due to the death of a fan.
PDSU stated that if authorities do not take action to file charges and detain the actor, they will halt screenings of the film across the state.
