Jaipur, September 27 (NationPress) The Rajasthan government has once again restructured the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) ad hoc committee due to its repeated inability to conduct long-overdue elections.
In a directive released late Friday night, the Cooperative Department has reappointed Deendayal Kumawat, President of the Sawai Madhopur District Cricket Association, as the convener of the committee.
Alongside Kumawat, the previous committee members—Mohit Yadav, Ashish Tiwari, Dhananjay Singh Khinvsar, and Pinkesh Porwal—will continue in their roles. The committee has been granted a renewed three-month period, with a specific instruction to hold the RCA executive elections by December 27.
Following his reappointment, Kumawat expressed his appreciation to the government and emphasized his dedication to fostering cricket development in the state. He mentioned that sustained efforts are being made to enhance the governance of domestic cricket in Rajasthan and that the long-cherished vision of improving cricket infrastructure across districts is beginning to materialize. He also revealed that the RCA’s own ground in Jaipur will be operational in the forthcoming months, where domestic matches will commence shortly. However, the delays in conducting the RCA elections remain troubling.
In March 2023, the state government disbanded the elected executive committee and established an ad hoc team to manage the RCA's operations. This panel was assigned the responsibility of conducting elections within three months, yet despite several extensions, the task remains unfulfilled.
Over the previous two years, the government has appointed five distinct ad hoc committees under various conveners, including BJP MLA Jaideep Bihani, but none succeeded in organizing the elections. In June 2024, Kumawat was entrusted with this responsibility for the first time, yet he too was unable to finalize the elections within his tenure.
With Friday’s announcement, the government has now presented the ad hoc committee with what might be its last chance to break the deadlock. The new deadline of December 27 will be monitored closely, as stakeholders, players, and cricket fans eagerly await the RCA's ability to finally elect its executive body after years of instability.
