Salah Breaks Premier League Milestone in Liverpool's Stalemate at Newcastle

Newcastle, Dec 5 (NationPress) Mohamed Salah achieved a remarkable Premier League milestone during Liverpool's thrilling 3-3 encounter with Newcastle United. His impressive double not only secured the draw but also propelled him to the top of the goalscoring charts.
Having been behind Manchester City's prolific scorer Erling Haaland since Matchweek 2, Salah finally surpassed him by netting two goals in the second half of this intense match.
Following his two goals against Newcastle, Salah currently stands as the Premier League's leading scorer for the 2024-25 season with a total of 13 goals.
Initially, Haaland had an explosive start, scoring 10 goals in his first five matches this season, leaving Salah trailing by seven goals at that stage. However, the Norwegian has only added two more goals since then and has failed to score in his last three league appearances, allowing Salah to catch up and ultimately surpass him.
Salah's remarkable form sees him scoring in each of his last seven Premier League matches. He has now become just the third player in the history of the competition to achieve a scoring streak of this length on two separate occasions. The other two players are Jamie Vardy from Leicester City and his current manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, who accomplished this feat while playing for Manchester United, according to Premier League statistics.
Vardy holds the record for the longest goal-scoring streak in Premier League history, with an 11-match run set between August and November 2015, surpassing Van Nistelrooy's previous best of 10.
To equal the record, Salah will need to find the net in his next four league matches.
Additionally, Salah has made his own mark in history by becoming the first player to both score and assist in 37 Premier League matches, edging past the previous record held by Wayne Rooney.
Before netting Liverpool's second and third goals at St James' Park, he assisted in their first equalizer, which was scored by Curtis Jones.
