Skeet Mixed Team Title Secured by Maheshwari and Anantjeet at National Shooting Championships

New Delhi, Dec 25 (NationPress) The exceptional team of Maheshwari Chauhan and Anantjeet Singh Naruka, who achieved a commendable fourth place finish in the Paris Olympics, capped off a remarkable year by clinching the Skeet Mixed Team national title for their home state of Rajasthan at the ongoing 67th National Shooting Championship Competitions (NSCC) for Shotgun events on Wednesday.
During the final held at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range (DKSSR) on Christmas Day, the pair secured a narrow victory with a score of 44-43 against Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Areeba Khan from Uttar Pradesh (U.P). Ganemat Sekhon and Abhay Singh Sekhon from Punjab took home the bronze medal.
Earlier in the day, the duo's impressive scores of 72 and 71 in three rounds of 25 shots each set them up as the frontrunners in the qualification round among seven teams, leading them to the gold medal match.
Three teams, including Ganemat and Abhay, along with Haryana's Ishaan Libra and Raiza Dhillon, tied with a score of 141. In an exciting three-way shoot-off, the U.P duo excelled by hitting eight consecutive targets, earning the chance to compete for gold.
In the final, Maheshwari and Anantjeet displayed confidence and maintained their lead throughout the six series, each consisting of eight birds per team. However, a momentary lapse in focus and a caution to Maheshwari for exceeding her shot time made the finish closer than anticipated.
In the junior skeet mixed team event, Madhya Pradesh caused an upset against Haryana to secure the gold medal, with their pairing of Jyotiraditya Singh and Mansi Raghuvanshi defeating Ishaan and Sanjana Sood 4-2 in a shoot-off after both teams ended up tied at 40 hits out of a possible 48.
Telangana's Munek Battula and Zahra Deesawala claimed bronze by overcoming Rajasthan's Yaduraj Singh and Yashasvi Rathore with a score of 42-36 in the bronze medal match.
