New Delhi, March 28 (NationPress) Following the defeat of Sunrisers Hyderabad against Lucknow Super Giants by five wickets in IPL 2025, head coach Daniel Vettori stated that the team aims to extract positives from this setback and will implement a slightly revised strategy for their upcoming match against Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

At the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, LSG effectively contained SRH's renowned batting lineup, restricting them to a total of 190/9. In response, LSG successfully chased down the target with 23 balls to spare, securing their initial victory of IPL 2025.

“We reached a score of 190, which I believe was competitive. However, we are aware that playing in Vizag presents entirely different conditions and field dimensions, therefore we will need to formulate a somewhat different strategy than what we've utilized here,” Vettori remarked.

“Our approach will remain consistent, but the inquiries we pose to ourselves will be adjusted slightly. The insights we've gained regarding our intent were exemplary, and we will explore additional strategies with the ball, recognizing that when a batsman is in form, we must adapt our tactics accordingly,” Vettori explained in a video shared by the franchise on its X account.

Vettori also highlighted the bright spots from the match, praising uncapped batsman Aniket Verma for his explosive 36 runs off 13 balls, as well as captain Pat Cummins, who struck three sixes towards the end of the innings. “Every IPL team can experience a handful of losses. We’ve just gotten one out of the way. If you analyze the performance closely, there is a significant amount of positive aspects and numerous discussions we’ve had,” he noted.

“Especially concerning our evaluation of the pitch - we transitioned from a surface scoring 280 to feedback suggesting 200-220. Aside from a few unfortunate dismissals, we were performing well.”

“The way we played, particularly through the middle order, when we faced some pressure, Nitish handled it well, Patty absorbed it, and then Aniket came in with remarkable energy, demonstrating that he could maintain his style of play while still tackling the challenge at hand - that was truly admirable,” he elaborated.

Cummins, who recorded figures of 2-29, seemed to concur with Vettori’s insights on the match. “I believe that’s an accurate summary. Not much went our way, yet we still managed to reach 190. Apart from Pooran, we were quite competitive,” he stated.

“There will be nights when everything aligns perfectly, and others, like this one, where things don’t go as planned. However, it’s evident that we will remain competitive throughout the tournament,” Cummins concluded.
