Tania Sachdev Criticizes Delhi Government for Overlooked Achievements

New Delhi, Dec 23 (NationPress) Renowned chess player Tania Sachdev has expressed her disappointment on social media regarding the Delhi government’s failure to recognize her significant contributions to the sport.
In a recent social media update, the Delhi-based chess champion showcased her milestones and articulated her dissatisfaction with the inadequate acknowledgment from the Delhi government while tagging Chief Minister Atishi and Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal.
"Having represented India since 2008, it’s disheartening to witness such a lack of acknowledgment from the Delhi government for my chess achievements. States that appreciate and celebrate their champions effectively inspire excellence and foster talent. Unfortunately, Delhi has not yet taken this important step," Tania remarked on X.
Tania was part of the Indian women's team that clinched a historic gold medal at the 2024 Chess Olympiad, alongside fellow players Harika Dronavalli, Vaishali R, Divya Deshmukh, and Vantika Agarwal. She also contributed to the team that earned a bronze medal at the 2022 Chess Olympiad, where she personally secured an individual medal.
"At the 2022 Chess Olympiad, I returned with a remarkable team bronze and an individual medal. Fast forward to 2024, we achieved the historic Chess Olympic gold, yet there has been no acknowledgment or recognition from the state government. As someone who proudly represents Delhi and India, I sincerely hope @AamAadmiParty @AtishiAAP ma’am @ArvindKejriwal sir recognize the importance of supporting their chess athletes," she added.
Tania, a recipient of the Arjuna award, is a two-time national champion and a three-time Commonwealth chess champion.
