How Did Vani Kapoor Achieve Her Fourth Title at WPGT 2025?

Bengaluru, June 6 (NationPress) Vani Kapoor turned her game around after a challenging start, showcasing her skills with an impressive four-birdie streak on the back nine, clinching her fourth title of the season at the 8th leg of the Women’s Pro Golf Tour held at the Bangalore Golf Club.

Having previously won three consecutive titles and boasting over 30 domestic circuit victories, Vani faced a rocky beginning, sitting at 2-over after the first eight holes. However, she made a remarkable comeback, starting with a birdie on the ninth hole and following it up with four consecutive birdies from the 12th to the 15th, finishing with a score of 3-under 67 for the second time this season.

With a total score of 67-71-67, Vani concluded the tournament at 5-under 210, finishing three shots ahead of amateur Zara Anand (67), who achieved her best result on the pro circuit with rounds of 69-72-67, totaling 2-under 208. Zara has been showing significant promise this season as she prepares to join college golf in the US.

Neha Tripathi delivered the best score of the week at 5-under 65, finishing third after an initial round of 76. She improved her score with a 68 on the second day, totaling 1-under 209, as the top three players all finished under par for the event.

Vani, who shared the lead with amateur Saanvi after the first two rounds, began the final day with a bogey and parred the next six holes. Another bogey on the seventh brought her back to even par for the tournament, but a birdie on the ninth helped her return to under par.

Meanwhile, Saanvi struggled with three bogeys against one birdie on the front nine, remaining even for the tournament.

At that point, Gaurika Bishnoi was also in contention. With one birdie and one bogey, Gaurika was even par on the front nine and shared the lead with Vani at 1-under for the tournament. However, she dropped shots on the back nine, finishing with a score of 71 and a total of even par 210, placing her fourth.

In contrast, Vani surged ahead with four birdies and no bogeys on the back nine.

Despite Zara’s late-game surge with four birdies in the last ten holes and Neha Tripathi’s five birdies in the last seven holes, Vani maintained her lead to secure another impressive victory.

Overnight co-leader amateur Saanvi Somu, hoping for her first pro tour win after four second-place finishes, fell to fifth place with two birdies and five bogeys in a 73.

Ridhima Dilawari, who began the day with a double bogey, uniquely achieved two eagles on Par-4s at the sixth and fifteenth holes. She finished with a 67, which included two eagles, three birdies, two bogeys, and a double bogey, securing sixth place. Ananya Garg ended her day with a bogey-double bogey for a round of 71, placing her seventh.

Amandeep Drall, the previous leg winner, had a bogey-bogey finish with a round of 70, tying for eighth with Karishma Govind, Rhea Purvi Saravanan, Anvitha Narender, Vidhatri Urs, and Jasmine Shekar.

With four wins in seven starts, Vani has extended her lead at the top of the Hero Order of Merit, having earned Rs. 11,88,000, significantly ahead of second-placed Sneha Singh, who is currently competing on the Ladies European Tour in Tenerife. Amandeep Drall, Ridhima Dilawari, and Neha Tripathi hold the third to fifth positions on the Order of Merit.
