Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 7 (NationPress) The victorious Jammu and Kashmir Ranji Trophy team is set to commemorate their groundbreaking first title win with a celebratory parade through the streets of Jammu city this Sunday afternoon, according to sources from the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) on Saturday.
Last week, under the leadership of Paras Dogra, Jammu and Kashmir achieved a historic milestone by clinching their first-ever Ranji Trophy title, defeating the formidable Karnataka based on a first innings lead at the KSCA Rajnagar Stadium in Hubbali.
Jammu and Kashmir participated in their inaugural Ranji Trophy match back in 1960, and their performance has steadily improved over the years, reaching the quarterfinals in the seasons of 2013-14, 2019-20, and 2024-25.
The victory parade is scheduled to take place from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm, traversing key locations such as BC Road, Akhnoor Road, Jewel Chowk, Jammu University, and the railway station in Jammu. Prior to the parade, the entire team will gather for lunch with Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, at his residence.
Following the parade, the team will attend a dinner celebration at Fortune Hotel in Jammu. All players who represented J&K across various formats this season have been invited to join in the festivities, as confirmed by sources to IANS.
Shubham Pundir, a left-handed batter, was honored as the Player of the Match for his impressive 121 runs in the final. Meanwhile, fast bowler Auqib Nabi, who significantly contributed to J&K's title success, received the Player of the Tournament award for taking 60 wickets throughout the competition.
This has been a memorable 2025/26 domestic season for Jammu & Kashmir, as they also secured their first-ever BCCI title by winning the 2025/26 Vijay Merchant Trophy Plate Group title in Surat.
JKCA is also organizing a special function to celebrate their Ranji Trophy victory on March 10 at the JKCA Complex, Hostel Ground in Jammu, starting at 6:30 pm. Sources have indicated that details regarding celebrations in Srinagar will be announced soon. "While plans are still in progress, celebratory events are likely to occur in Srinagar after Eid," sources mentioned.
