Kapurthala, March 18 (NationPress) Wasim Khan from Delhi carded an impressive six-under 66 to take the lead after the first round of the PGTI NexGen Kapurthala 2025, the second tournament of the PGTI NexGen season, taking place at the RCF Golf Course in Kapurthala. In his opening round on Tuesday, Wasim recorded seven birdies alongside a bogey.
Ajay Baisoya from Delhi followed closely in second place with a score of five-under 67, while Brijesh Kumar from Panchkula secured third place with a score of 68.
Local favorite Ashbeer Saini of Kapurthala achieved a hole-in-one on the 10th hole during his round of 69, tying for fourth place with Sudipta Das and Amrit Lal.
At 34 years old, Wasim Khan made remarkable shots, landing within five feet for birdies on three occasions. He also executed a fantastic recovery from the trees to secure a birdie on the 16th hole. His longest birdie of the day came from a 12-footer on the 12th.
Wasim commented, “I played well today, consistently landing the ball close to the hole. My tee shots and iron work were excellent. I finished 11th in last week's season opener in Gurugram, which boosted my confidence for this week.”
