Vadodara, Feb 17 (NationPress) Renowned players Marizanne Kapp and Jess Jonassen are back for the Delhi Capitals, while seasoned spinner Ekta Bisht has been included in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru lineup as captain Smriti Mandhana won the toss and chose to bowl first in the fourth match of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 at Kotambi Stadium on Monday.
Both DC and RCB kicked off their 2025 WPL journeys with victories, and one team will secure four points following Monday's encounter. After winning the toss, Smriti announced that Ekta is stepping in for all-rounder Prema Bisht in the playing eleven.
“Dew has played a significant role in the recent matches. We've noticed the pitch performs better after the initial 6-7 overs. There are aspects we can improve upon regarding bowling and fielding. We had two productive practice sessions. The WPL isn't a lengthy tournament, meaning we need to start strong,” she commented.
DC's captain Meg Lanning stated that Marizanne and Jess are ready for selection now, replacing Alice Capsey and Niki Prasad, who was awarded player of the match in the narrow victory over Mumbai Indians. DC features five overseas players, including Sarah Bryce from Scotland, an associate nation.
According to WPL regulations, teams selecting players from associate nations can have five overseas players in their lineup. “We would have preferred to bowl like most teams, but we have observed that teams batting first perform well. The pitch tends to remain consistent throughout. It was essential for us to remain composed and secure the win. We learned a lot from that match,” Meg added.
