Zimbabwe will host Bangladesh for a multi-format bilateral series spanning June and July 2025, Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) confirmed on Friday, 22 May. The tour features one Test, three ODIs, and three T20Is across two venues — Harare and Bulawayo.

Full Schedule and Venues

The series opens with a five-day Test at Harare Sports Club from 28 June to 2 July. The ODI leg follows at the same venue on 6, 9, and 11 July. The two sides then travel south to Bulawayo, where Queens Sports Club hosts the T20I matches on 15, 17, and 19 July. Ticketing and broadcast details are yet to be announced by ZC.

Zimbabwe's First Home Assignment Since T20 World Cup Heroics

The Bangladesh series marks Zimbabwe's first home international assignment of 2025 — and their first competitive cricket since a landmark run at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka earlier this year in February and March. Zimbabwe reached the Super Eight stage of that tournament after defeating both Australia and Sri Lanka in the group stage, a result widely regarded as one of the biggest upsets of recent World Cup cricket.

Notably, this is also the first time Zimbabwe will host a full multi-format bilateral series at home in 2025, making it a significant occasion for domestic fans who have had little live international cricket to follow since the World Cup.

Head-to-Head Context and Recent History

The last time Zimbabwe hosted Bangladesh was in 2022, when the hosts won both the ODI and T20I series 2-1. More recently, the two sides met in a two-Test series in Bangladesh, which ended 1-1 after Zimbabwe claimed a three-wicket victory in the opening match — their first Test win in four years. That result underscored Zimbabwe's resurgence as a competitive Test side, and adds a compelling backdrop to the upcoming contest.

What ZC Managing Director Said

ZC Managing Director Givemore Makoni expressed enthusiasm about the tour. 'We are delighted to confirm Bangladesh's tour of Zimbabwe for what we expect to be a highly competitive and exciting series across all formats,' he said. 'This tour is hugely significant for us as it marks the return of top-level international cricket to our home venues following the team's outstanding performances at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup earlier this year.'

Makoni added: 'Our supporters have every reason to be proud of what we have achieved in recent months and we are looking forward to seeing fans once again rally behind the team in Harare and Bulawayo.'

Bowling Coach Appointment Ahead of Series

In preparation for the series, ZC has brought in former South African first-class cricketer Quinton Friend as a consultant bowling coach for the senior men's national team. Friend, who currently serves as head coach of the Dolphins franchise in South Africa, had a 16-year playing career as a right-arm fast-medium bowler before moving into coaching. He is reportedly assisting at a training camp already underway in Harare under head coach Justin Sammons as preparations intensify ahead of the international assignments.

With Zimbabwe riding high on confidence from their World Cup run and Bangladesh looking to assert themselves in all three formats, this series is set to be a closely fought contest when it gets underway on 28 June.
