Harare, Oct 1 (NationPress) Zimbabwe is set to welcome Afghanistan for an exciting one-off Test match along with three T20Is, all at the Harare Sports Club later this month, as announced by Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) on Wednesday. The Test is scheduled from October 20-24, marking Zimbabwe’s 10th Test in a packed 2025 season that has already seen them compete against Ireland, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, and New Zealand in this format. This will be followed by three T20 matches on October 29, 31, and November 2.

“We are thrilled to host Afghanistan once more, this time for a one-off Test followed by three T20Is in Harare. Matches between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan have proven to be fiercely competitive and entertaining, and we trust that this upcoming series will delight our fans,” stated ZC Managing Director Givemore Makoni.

Afghanistan's tour comes less than a year after their previous visit to Zimbabwe, which included three T20Is and three ODIs in Harare, before shifting to Bulawayo for an historic two-Test series during the Boxing Day and New Year’s celebrations at Queens Sports Club. Afghanistan dominated all three series against Zimbabwe.

ZC further announced that ticketing and matchday details will be revealed shortly. “Afghanistan has established themselves as a formidable opponent in international cricket, and we recognize this will be a challenging yet thrilling experience for our team. We encourage our supporters to come out in full force and support our boys against quality opposition,” added Makoni.

In the meantime, Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) confirmed that the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) will embark on a tour to Zimbabwe in October, marking a monumental visit of the iconic club to the nation after a span of six decades. The prestigious club last graced Zimbabwe during the 1964/65 season and is set to compete in seven matches across Kwekwe and Harare.

Their tour kicks off with two T20s on October 6 and a 50-over match on October 7 against the provincial Rhinos at Kwekwe Sports Club. The 13-member touring squad, led by Glamorgan batter Will Smale, will then face Zimbabwe A in a three-day first-class match from October 10-12 at Old Hararians Sports Club.

The tour will conclude with three T20s against the Zimbabwe Academy at Takashinga Cricket Club – two games on October 14 and the final match on October 15. Former England international and current ICC elite umpire Martin Saggers will officiate during the tour.
