Key Takeaways

  • Delhi BJP President claims many AAP leaders could face jail time soon.
  • The Anti-Corruption Branch is intensifying its investigation.
  • Former education minister Manish Sisodia is under scrutiny for the classroom scam.
  • Investigative agencies are receiving full support from the BJP.
  • AAP leaders are accused of presenting facilities as classrooms.

New Delhi, June 20 (NationPress) Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva stated on Friday that leaders of the AAP are exhibiting signs of distress as the Anti-Corruption Branch’s (ACB) investigation into the classroom scam advances, posing a significant risk of incarceration for many of them.

Sachdeva’s comments came on a day when the ACB interrogated former education minister Manish Sisodia regarding the multi-crore classroom scam.

“With the BJP now in authority in Delhi, investigative agencies are fully supported, and not just Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, but numerous other AAP leaders are likely to face jail time soon,” Sachdeva remarked.

He highlighted that AAP leaders are cognizant of the fact that during their governance, facilities like toilets and verandas in government schools were deceptively marketed as classrooms -- all of which will be validated through the ongoing investigation.

Sachdeva pointed out that for the last eight years, AAP leaders have continuously repeated the narrative that the BJP has ruled the Centre for 11 years, yet no incriminating evidence has emerged against their leaders in corruption inquiries.

He further explained that previous AAP Ministers had failed to provide essential information to the investigating agencies, which caused the inquiries to progress at a sluggish pace.

In a direct criticism of AAP leader and former Chief Minister Atishi for defending Sisodia, he stated, “It would be wise for the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, Atishi, to refrain from defending corrupt individuals like Manish Sisodia, whose corruption is widely acknowledged.”

She should instead focus on his bail situation because his arrest is unavoidable, he added.

Previously, the ACB reported that Sisodia arrived at its office around 11 a.m. on Friday related to FIR No. 31/2025, which was filed under Section 13(1) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018, in conjunction with Sections 409 and 120B concerning breach of trust and conspiracy as defined in the Indian Penal Code.

This case involves substantial irregularities and a widespread scam linked to the overinflated construction costs of classrooms and school buildings in Delhi Government schools, it stated.

The ACB noted that Sisodia was questioned in the presence of an independent ‘Panch’ witness, and his responses were documented concerning various facts and circumstances pertaining to the case.

Point of View

This situation highlights the critical importance of accountability in governance. The allegations against AAP leaders should be thoroughly investigated, ensuring that justice prevails without bias. The ongoing inquiry by the ACB underscores the need for transparency and integrity in public service, values that are essential for maintaining public trust.
