Conflict within AAP: Kejriwal's Allies Challenge Raghav Chadha
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 3 (NationPress) The internal divide within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) became evident on Friday, as Raghav Chadha, the party's 'dismissed' Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha, and other leaders, including Delhi unit President Saurabh Bharadwaj, engaged in a fierce exchange of words.
Following Raghav Chadha's video message on Friday morning, where he claimed he was being muted for voicing the concerns of the public, several AAP leaders retaliated, accusing him of capitulating to the Central government and associating with those in power.
Saurabh Bharadwaj shared a counter video statement aimed at reflecting Raghav Chadha's decline from a once esteemed position to one of disgrace.
Bharadwaj and others, referring to themselves as "Kejriwal's soldiers," also took a jab at the former Rajya Sabha MP, stating that the current administration is unconcerned with "soft PR."
"A small party has limited time, and it is imperative to address the broader issues facing the nation rather than focusing on trivialities like samosas," the Delhi AAP President remarked.
Bharadwaj highlighted several issues where Raghav Chadha, the AAP MP from Punjab, appeared ineffective in challenging the government, asserting that politics requires integrity and bravery.
He pointed out the repression of AAP members in Gujarat and the suppression of voting rights in West Bengal, questioning, "Why didn't the MP raise these issues in the House?"
"When Arvind Kejriwal was unlawfully imprisoned, you (Raghav Chadha) went into hiding. Politics shouldn't be about promoting the ruling party; it should be about confronting issues head-on," Bharadwaj stated.
Anurag Dhanda, AAP's Media In-charge, also criticized Raghav Chadha, claiming he lacked the courage to defend the party's interests.
"We are Kejriwal's soldiers. Our foremost trait is fearlessness. If someone fears PM Modi, how can they fight for the country?" he asserted.
He challenged Raghav Chadha's silence in the House regarding various issues concerning Gujarat and West Bengal.
"In Gujarat, many of our workers have been detained by the BJP's police—will the honorable MP speak about it in the House? In West Bengal, voting rights are being eroded. When a motion against the CEC arose in the House, Brother Sahib declined to endorse it," Dhanda expressed on the social media platform X, criticizing Raghav Chadha, who once had Kejriwal's unwavering trust.
"You hesitate to criticize the Prime Minister. You shy away from discussing the real issues facing our nation. The one who is afraid..." he added.
Earlier that day, Raghav Chadha, an AAP Rajya Sabha MP and known ally of Kejriwal, launched a direct attack on the party leadership, asserting that his silence should not be interpreted as defeat.
This heated exchange of barbs among AAP leaders follows the 'demotion' of Raghav Chadha, who was replaced as the party's Deputy Leader in Rajya Sabha by fellow Punjab MP Ashok Mittal.
