ABVP Secures Dominance in DUSU Executive Council Elections

New Delhi, Dec 29 (NationPress) The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) candidates emerged victorious in six out of the eleven positions during the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) Executive Council elections held on Sunday.

According to a statement, a total of 103 representatives out of 135 who participated in the voting process selected candidates supported by ABVP as their top choice.

The members of the Executive Council are chosen by an Electoral College that includes the President and Central Councillors of DUSU alongside College Student Unions.

Previously, the ABVP, which is affiliated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, secured the roles of Vice President and Secretary in the central panel of DUSU.

The outcome of the Executive Council elections showcases ABVP's dedication and organizational prowess on the Delhi University campus, stated DUSU Secretary Mitravinda Karnawal.

Karnawal reiterated ABVP’s focus on student welfare, stating, “Once the elected members of the Executive Council assume their roles, we will intensify our efforts to benefit students. We appreciate the support from all students for this achievement.”

ABVP Delhi State Secretary Harsh Atri emphasized that the student organization has consistently advocated for student-related issues.

Atri mentioned that ABVP representatives in DUSU have already initiated discussions with the administration addressing student matters such as hostel facilities, Metro passes, and complimentary bus services within the campus.

The Secretary expressed optimism that the newly elected Executive Council members would enhance DUSU’s initiatives towards student welfare.

“I extend my heartfelt thanks to all Delhi University students for this victory and for granting ABVP a majority in the Executive Council elections,” Atri stated.

According to the DUSU results announced in November, Bhanu Pratap Singh from ABVP won the position of Vice President.

The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress, saw its candidate Rounak Khatri elected as DUSU President, while NSUI's Lokesh Choudhary secured the post of Joint Secretary.
