Is HM Amit Shah's Visit to Chhattisgarh Focusing on Forensic Education and Maoist Crackdown?

Raipur, June 22 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah embarks on a two-day journey to Chhattisgarh starting Sunday, with an agenda centered around forensic science education and enhancing internal security measures.

HM Shah is set to land at Raipur Airport at approximately 1:40 p.m. Following his arrival, he will travel directly to Naya Raipur to participate in a ‘Bhoomi Pujan’ ceremony at 2 p.m., followed by the laying of the foundation stone for the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) campus at 3:15 p.m.

The future NFSU Raipur campus will be developed on a sprawling 40-acre property, with an estimated investment of Rs 350 crore. Although the complete infrastructure will require time to finalize, academic activities are anticipated to commence in the 2025-26 academic year from a temporary facility, for which HM Shah will lay the foundation today. Initially established as the Gujarat Forensic Sciences University in 2008, NFSU was elevated to a national institution through an Act of Parliament in 2020.

This institution provides specialized programs in forensic science, investigative methodologies, and criminology. In a remarkable expansion, it inaugurated its first overseas campus in Uganda in 2023.

HM Shah will also convene a meeting in Raipur with Directors General and Additional Directors General of Police from neighboring states to discuss inter-state security collaboration. Later in the evening, he will conduct a review of the anti-Maoist initiatives in Chhattisgarh.

On June 23, he plans to visit Narayanpur, where he is expected to meet with personnel at the BSF (Border Security Force) camp at 1:45 p.m. to assess anti-Naxal operations. His return to Raipur is scheduled for 3:20 p.m., with departure planned for 4:30 p.m.

This visit by HM Shah highlights the government's commitment to bolstering forensic capabilities and evaluating security efforts in regions affected by Naxalism.

During his two-day visit to Chhattisgarh, HM Shah signals a renewed political and operational focus on the ongoing struggle against Naxalism.

Following his key engagements on Sunday, HM Shah is expected to visit the Abujhmad area on June 23, where he will engage directly with local residents—an area of significant strategic importance in the government's anti-Naxal operations. This visit comes just three months after he attended the closing ceremony of the Pandum in Bastar and chaired an important meeting in Raipur with senior officials from the CRPF, BSF, and police to assess counterinsurgency efforts.

HM Shah has asserted that Naxalism will be eradicated from the nation by March 31, 2026—a deadline that is now fast approaching. With the BJP government under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai amplifying its operations, recent months have witnessed a significant increase in encounters, with over 400 Naxals reportedly neutralized since the government took office.
