Will HM Shah Lay the Foundation Stone for Forensic Science University and Forensic Lab in Chhattisgarh on June 22?

Raipur, June 19 (NationPress) The Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Chhattisgarh on June 22 for a two-day visit aimed at enhancing forensic facilities and evaluating internal security measures.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma stated that the Union Home Minister will lay the foundation stone for the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) campus in Naya Raipur and conduct high-level discussions regarding administrative and security issues.

The NFSU campus, which will occupy 40 acres of land allocated by the state government, is projected to be developed by the Central government at an estimated cost between Rs 350–400 crore, he mentioned.

This institution is anticipated to be crucial in executing India's new criminal laws — Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam — where forensic evidence will be vital in serious crime investigations.

A digital transit campus will commence operations during this academic session to facilitate early access to education and training.

The entrance exam has already been conducted, and admissions will commence this year, according to the Chhattisgarh Home Minister.

Moreover, a state forensic laboratory will be constructed on an adjacent 6–7 acre site.

This dual infrastructure aims to meet the rising demand for skilled forensic professionals and to modernize criminal justice delivery in the region, he added.

On June 23, HM Shah is set to visit a security forces camp in the Bastar division, an area long impacted by Naxalite insurgency. He will also meet the family of Additional Superintendent of Police Akash Rao Girepunje, who tragically lost his life in an IED blast in Sukma district.

Deputy CM Sharma highlighted that the state is intensifying its anti-Naxal operations.

Special Task Forces are being established in every district, and a toll-free number will soon be introduced for public feedback.

The state Cabinet decided that the families of martyred personnel will receive priority in government jobs across all departments, not just in police services.

Since January 2024, more than 400 Maoist cadres have been neutralized in Chhattisgarh, including prominent leaders like CPI (Maoist) — Nambala Keshav Rao (Basvaraju) and Sudhakar.

The Centre has set a goal to eradicate Naxalism by March 2026. In April, HM Shah visited Bastar and urged Maoists to abandon arms, return home, and engage in the state's development initiatives to ensure a brighter future for future generations.

The establishment of NFSU in Chhattisgarh represents a significant advancement in decentralizing forensic education and enhancing national security infrastructure.

With eight campuses already operational across India and more plans in place, the university is poised to become a cornerstone of India's evidence-based justice system.
