New Delhi, July 3 (NationPress) The low-cost airline IndiGo has revealed the onboarding of Amitabh Kant, a retired IAS officer, as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of InterGlobe Aviation Limited, pending regulatory and shareholder sanction.
Amitabh Kant, a 1980 batch officer from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Kerala cadre, boasts over four decades of administrative experience. Recently, he acted as India’s Sherpa during the G20 Presidency, contributing to Prime Minister Modi’s team that produced the historic New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration, focusing on global challenges, promoting growth, and enhancing India’s digital public infrastructure while pushing for significant reforms in climate finance, geopolitics, and technology.
The former bureaucrat has been instrumental in various large-scale sustainability projects, including the Green Hydrogen Mission and the National Mission on Transformative Mobility and Battery Storage.
He previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog) for six years, where he led the Aspirational Districts Program (ADP), transforming numerous backward districts into top performers, as acknowledged by the UNDP.
Throughout his career, he held several significant positions, such as Director on the Board of the National Highways Authority of India and a Member of India’s National Statistical Commission.
Amitabh Kant's extensive background in culture and tourism includes promoting Kerala as ‘God’s Own Country’ and spearheading the Incredible India campaign, showcasing his profound understanding of branding’s role in fostering economic growth. He has also overseen crucial infrastructure projects like the expansion of Calicut Airport and the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor.
