Key Takeaways
Shri Vijaya Puram, Feb 21 (NationPress) The Election Commission of India has officially released the final electoral roll for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision process, with the electorate now totaling 2,58,040.
L. Kumar, the Chief Electoral Officer for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, reported that this revision led to the removal of a significant number of ineligible voters, including those who are deceased, those who have permanently moved away, and instances of duplicate registrations.
The final electorate of 2,58,040 consists of 1,30,415 male voters, 1,27,622 female voters, and three voters identifying as third-gender. Notably, South Andaman has the highest count with 1,60,988 voters, followed by North and Middle Andaman with 74,475, and the Nicobar district with 22,577.
The electoral roll revision took place from October 27, 2025, to February 21, 2026, involving a thorough physical verification process to maintain a clean and accurate electoral database.
This extensive verification was accomplished through 100 percent physical checks, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) personally delivering and retrieving enumeration forms, according to the CEO's statement.
Official data indicates that the initial voter count of 3,10,404 as of October last year saw a notable decrease during the enumeration period.
The draft electoral roll, made public on December 23, 2025, eliminated 64,014 ineligible entries. During the claims and objections phase from December 12, 2025, to January 22, 2026, 16,919 eligible voters were added, while another 5,269 were removed.
The finalized rolls illuminate key voter demographics, including 4,070 first-time voters aged 18-19.
Additionally, the list comprises 2,255 individuals with disabilities (PwD) and 679 senior voters aged over 85.
Officials confirmed that the final roll will be available at all polling stations this weekend and can be accessed for public review at voter facilitation centers for a duration of seven days.
First-time voters and those who have submitted correction requests will receive their Elector's Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) through BLOs delivered to their homes.
The commission also announced that individuals who turned 18 on January 1, 2026 but missed the revision, along with prospective voters reaching voting age by October 2026, are still able to apply for inclusion via the official portal or the ECINET mobile app.
