Amaravati, Dec 17 (NationPress) The Andhra Pradesh government is set to grant an additional 10 acres for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) located in Amaravati, as per the announcement made by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday.

During the inaugural convocation of AIIMS, Mangalagiri, he mentioned that the state had previously allocated 183 acres of valuable land in Mangalagiri, a record that no other AIIMS in the nation has.

In response to a request from AIIMS officials for additional land, Naidu confirmed that another 10 acres would soon be allocated to the institute.

"The groundwork for the 960-bedded AIIMS was initiated by our administration in 2018, culminating in a project worth Rs 1618 crore. I am pleased to see that within just six years, AIIMS has gained national recognition," stated Naidu.

He also declared that further facilities would be developed for the institute, praising AIIMS for providing medical services to patients at a nominal fee of just Rs 10. He expressed hope that it would soon ascend to the top rank nationally, as it currently stands at eighth place.

Naidu expressed confidence in transformative advancements in the medical field by utilizing cutting-edge technology, emphasizing that medical services should be brought closer to the populace.

The Chief Minister remarked that the domain of medical science has evolved into medtech science, urging medical students to master the latest technologies, such as DeepTech.

Naidu asserted that the medical sector should embrace innovation to ensure that patients visit hospitals primarily during emergencies.

Attending the convocation as the chief guest was the President of India, Droupadi Murmu.

Naidu highlighted that Droupadi Murmu ascended to this esteemed position from a humble background in a tribal family in Odisha, serving as an inspiration for all.

"The President of India, who commenced her career as a teacher, later became a professor, a junior assistant, councillor, chairperson, MLA, minister in her home state's cabinet, and ultimately governor, has now achieved the pinnacle of success as the first citizen of the nation," Naidu remarked.

He emphasized that President Murmu has demonstrated that with hard work, anyone can accomplish their ambitions.
