New Delhi, Jan 16 (NationPress) - The US-based AI safety and research firm Anthropic announced on Friday the appointment of Irina Ghose as the Managing Director for the Indian market, coinciding with plans to establish its inaugural office in the country.

Ghose, who previously held the position of Managing Director at Microsoft India, comes with over thirty years of experience in expanding technology enterprises.

“India presents a significant chance to influence how AI is developed and implemented at scale,” she remarked.

Organizations in India are transitioning from mere experimentation to applied AI, where aspects like trust, safety, and long-term effects are as crucial as innovation.

“Anthropic’s mission aligns with my vision that technology should empower individuals, broaden accessibility, and generate enduring value across India’s myriad languages and communities,” Ghose further stated.

At Microsoft, she oversaw the adoption of AI in major sectors including banking, healthcare, manufacturing, and government.

Ghose led impactful teams, forged ecosystem partnerships, and promoted capabilities ready for the future while focusing on leveraging technology for meaningful business and societal effects.

“Irina’s proficiency in scaling technology businesses and steering enterprise transformation positions her as the perfect leader for our expansion,” commented Chris Ciauri, Managing Director of International at Anthropic.

India is recognized as the second-largest global market for Claude.ai, an Anthropic product.

“As we enhance our teams and deepen our interactions across both public and private sectors in India, Irina will ensure our strategies are rooted in local insights and consistent with our mission,” Ciauri added.

According to the AI firm, the India team will collaborate closely with policymakers and academic institutions, boost developer engagement, and form partnerships with enterprises leveraging AI to tackle local challenges.

Furthermore, Anthropic's fourth Economic Index indicated that Indian users demonstrate a strong inclination towards technical applications, with nearly half of all Claude.ai usage concentrated in computational and mathematical tasks.
