Is Politics a Realm Where Hearts are Shattered and Feelings are Bruised? - Vasundhara Raje
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, Jan 26 (NationPress) Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje, remarked on Monday that violence extends beyond just physical harm; it encompasses emotional distress and the fracturing of hearts — a phenomenon she noted frequently manifests in the political arena.
While addressing the Acharya Mahashraman Maryada Mahotsav in Chhoti Khatu, Raje emphasized that Jainism is rooted in the concept of non-violence, which transcends mere abstention from physical harm.
“To harm any living being is to engage in violence. However, violence is not solely about weapons or physical attacks. Causing emotional pain and breaking someone’s heart also constitutes violence,” she articulated.
Reflecting on the harsh realities of public service, the former Chief Minister lamented, “Regrettably, in politics, hearts are often shattered and feelings are hurt. This is a recurring theme.”
She shared a crucial life lesson imparted by Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia, who instilled in her the importance of never inflicting emotional pain on others. “I strive to emulate her teachings,” Raje explained.
Additionally, she expressed that injustice and the denial of rightful entitlements are forms of moral failure. Addressing the challenges of contemporary life, Raje stated that people today find themselves perpetually pressed for time.
“If we can carve out even a small moment to remember God, many of life’s hurdles can be circumvented,” she added.
During the event, Yugpradhan Acharya Mahashraman underscored the significance of values in everyday existence, advocating for morality, goodwill, and freedom from addiction as fundamental to an individual’s character.
Praising Vasundhara Raje for her public service, Acharya Mahashraman noted her respectful demeanor, stating that she chooses to sit on the floor in the company of religious leaders instead of using a chair, which he described as a testament to her reverence for spiritual customs.
At the program, the Mahashraman Maryada Mahotsav Committee recognized Vasundhara Raje for her exemplary public service and conduct.
