Kolkata, June 11 (NationPress) Aryan Khan, one of the two individuals implicated in a pornography racket case in the Howrah district of West Bengal, was apprehended on Wednesday at a hideout in Golf Green, located in South Kolkata.
Khan is currently being transported to Domjur Police Station in Howrah district, which has jurisdiction over the case.
Meanwhile, Khan’s mother, Shweta Khan, who is also implicated, remains at large. Investigators are questioning Khan in hopes of uncovering information regarding his mother’s location.
The main allegations against both the mother and son involve the confinement of a woman from the North 24 Parganas district for six months and physical abuse with an iron rod for her refusal to engage in pornographic shoots.
Police action was initiated only after the National Commission of Women (NCW) took notice of the situation and contacted the West Bengal Director General of Police, Rajeev Kumar, urging for the immediate arrest of the accused under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
Furthermore, the NCW directed that the victim receive complimentary medical treatment and psychological support.
The women’s commission has also requested the state DGP to provide a comprehensive report on the actions taken within three days.
Sukanta Majumdar, the BJP state president in West Bengal and Union minister of state, has accused Shweta Khan of maintaining close ties with various leaders of the ruling Trinamool Congress.
He shared an image on his official X account featuring the accused mother alongside Trinamool Congress leader Rajib Banerjee and West Bengal Minister Arup Roy, both of whom are associated with the Howrah district.
“They have been operating this criminal network for years, yet the Howrah Police Commissionerate—subservient to the Chief Minister—claims ignorance!” Majumdar asserted.
