Kolkata, June 12 (NationPress) Shweta Khan, also known as Fultusi, the primary accused in the West Bengal porn racket case, asserted on Thursday that she was wrongfully implicated and emphasized that her version of events should be heard.
The West Bengal Police apprehended her on Wednesday night.
Khan is set to appear in a trial court in Howrah district later today. Earlier, she was taken to Domjur Rural Hospital in the same area, where she voiced her claims to awaiting media representatives.
“I am being framed in this case. My side of the story deserves to be heard, and I urge investigators to verify the facts. My arrest stemmed from a complaint lodged by relatives of a specific woman, who is married and has a child,” Khan informed the media.
After evading capture for a while, Khan was finally arrested from a hideout in Alipore, South Kolkata.
On the same day, police had initially detained her son, Aryan Khan, followed by her daughter, Zoya Khan, who is also implicated in the porn racket. Their interrogations led to Shweta Khan's arrest, according to police sources.
The main allegations against Shweta, Aryan, and Zoya involve holding a woman from the North 24 Parganas district captive for six months and subjecting her to severe physical assault with an iron rod after she declined to participate in pornographic video productions allegedly led by the trio.
Since Zoya is a minor, her case will be processed under the Juvenile Justice Act and referred to the Juvenile Justice Board.
Aryan has denied any involvement in the porn racket, claiming he had a relationship with the victim, who allegedly wished to marry him.
On Wednesday, police actions escalated following the National Commission for Women (NCW) taking suo motu cognizance of the case, urging immediate arrests under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
The NCW has also mandated that the state police guarantee the victim receives free medical care and psychological support.
Furthermore, the Commission directed the DGP to submit a detailed report on actions taken within three days.
Meanwhile, Sukanta Majumdar, West Bengal BJP President and Union Minister, alleged that Shweta Khan has connections with several senior leaders of the ruling Trinamool Congress.
