Kolkata, July 5 (NationPress) Shweta Khan, the central figure in the pornographic racket investigation in West Bengal, has now been charged with forgery by the West Bengal Police, who are delving deeper into the case.
The primary allegations against her involve acquiring fraudulent Indian identity documents such as Aadhaar cards, EPIC cards, and PAN cards under various aliases, which she then used to open bank accounts with these forged identities.
Investigators have uncovered three names associated with these accounts: Shweta Khan, Mahsina Begum, and Fultusi.
On Saturday, she appeared before a district court in Howrah. During the proceedings, the public prosecutor presented evidence and requested additional custody to question her further regarding the case. The court granted a five-day remand for police custody.
In the previous month, the authorities apprehended three individuals, including Shweta Khan, her son Aryan Khan, and her underage daughter.
Given that one of the accused is a minor, her case has been directed for processing under the Juvenile Justice Act and has been referred to the Juvenile Justice Board.
The main accusations against the trio involve holding a woman from the North 24 Parganas district captive for six months and violently assaulting her with an iron rod after she refused to take part in pornographic video productions allegedly orchestrated by them.
The three suspects were arrested on June 11 from various locations in the city following the intervention of the National Commission for Women (NCW), which took suo motu cognizance of the situation and urged the West Bengal DGP Rajeev Kumar to initiate immediate arrests under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
The BJP has previously claimed that Shweta Khan has close ties with several senior officials from the ruling Trinamool Congress. Last month, a photograph of her with a prominent member of the West Bengal cabinet from Howrah district circulated widely on social media.
