Ram Mandir Construction Committee Chairman Nripendra Misra on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, announced that the main construction of the Ram Temple at the Ram Janmbhoomi complex in Ayodhya has been completed, and the committee's primary focus has now shifted to establishing the International Ramkatha Museum. Tenders for the museum project will be floated from October 10, Misra said, signalling the next major phase of the Ayodhya development programme.

Museum Tenders and Gallery Structure

Speaking to reporters, Misra said the museum will comprise 20 galleries, each with a distinct theme and a finalised storyline. 'There will be a discussion on the museum today as well. The biggest work for the museum is now about to begin. Tenders for each gallery will be issued from October 10. There are 20 galleries in total — Gallery 1, Gallery 2, and so on,' he said.

He credited Director Sanjeev Kumar Singh with the exhaustive preparatory work behind the project. 'The theme for each gallery has been decided, and the storyline has also been finalised. Our Director, Sanjeev Kumar Singh, has worked very hard to prepare the entire storyline,' Misra noted.

Technology and Timeline

The museum is set to deploy cutting-edge presentation formats, including immersive technology, 3D technology, and related digital tools. The tender covering the required hardware and software is expected to be issued by October 10, with finalisation anticipated by the end of October. Once contracts are awarded, Misra said gallery completion would take approximately six months.

Separately, an auditorium located within and outside the temple complex is currently under construction. Misra acknowledged a delay of roughly three to four months in that work but expressed confidence it would be completed by January or February.

Ram Temple Construction: What Has Been Completed

Misra confirmed that the core construction of the Ram Temple is now complete. He added that outstanding dues to the construction companies will be settled as per contractual conditions, and all firms will be issued a performance bank guarantee to ensure the long-term maintenance of the asset's value.

What the Museum Will Showcase

Once finished, the International Ramkatha Museum is envisaged as a comprehensive cultural institution that will document the law and order systems of the last 500 years and narrate the life of Lord Ram. The Ramkatha Museum itself was originally established in 1988 to collect and preserve literature and artefacts connected to Lord Ram's life. The new international iteration represents a major expansion of that original mandate.

With tenders on the horizon and a six-month construction window post-award, the International Ramkatha Museum is on track to become a defining cultural landmark of the Ayodhya complex in the months ahead.
