New Delhi, Dec 23 (NationPress) Political responses emerged regarding Congress MP Shashi Tharoor's commendation of the Nitish Kumar administration's achievements in Bihar's infrastructure. BJP MLA Ram Kadam remarked that these comments resonate with a wider national perspective.
The BJP interpreted Tharoor's statements as a validation of the NDA's governance in Bihar.
In an interview with IANS, Kadam stated, “Shashi Tharoor is a prominent leader recognized for his forthright and articulate opinions. This isn't merely his viewpoint; it symbolizes the feelings of the entire nation.”
Kadam further criticized RJD’s previous governance, claiming that Lalu Prasad Yadav’s era was plagued by corruption and neglect, while Bihar is now “gradually integrating into the mainstream of development” under the guidance of the Prime Minister, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and the current state administration.
JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar supported Tharoor’s remarks, describing them as indicative of the state's advancements.
“Shashi Tharoor participated in an international literature festival and shared his observations after visiting Patna. He highlighted the improvements in Bihar, from enhanced roads and electricity to the prestigious Nalanda University. Students from 22 countries are now studying at Nalanda University, showcasing the evident development,” Kumar expressed.
On the other hand, Congress MP Imran Masood launched a sharp critique against his party colleague Tharoor, questioning his political alignment and labeling him as “directionally confused.”
In his comments to IANS, Masood remarked, “Shashi Tharoor appears to be directionally confused. He is affiliated with Congress yet extols the Prime Minister and discusses the Bihar model. However, in Bihar, democracy was compromised by the division of 67 lakh votes. He should focus on politics in Kerala, where he aims to become Chief Minister. The BJP is absent in Kerala. His statements often contradict each other,” Masood asserted.
These reactions followed Tharoor’s commendation of Bihar’s infrastructure during his visit to attend the inaugural Nalanda Literary Festival at the revitalized Nalanda University.
“There’s no doubt that the infrastructure is significantly better than I had previously heard. The roads have improved. People are seen on the streets even late at night, which was not always the case before. So far, the electricity is functioning well, as is the water supply, along with other amenities,” Tharoor stated.
