Chennai, June 12 (NationPress) Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagendran has vehemently criticized the offensive comments made by DMK’s Andipatti MLA, Maharajan, who allegedly labeled women utilizing free bus travel as “OC” (a Tamil slang meaning “freeloaders”).

In a strongly worded statement, Nagendran emphasized that such remarks are not only demeaning to the women of Tamil Nadu but also demonstrate the hubris of the DMK administration.

“It is utterly unacceptable for an elected official from the ruling party to belittle women who benefit from government welfare programs,” he stated.

“This incident is not an anomaly. Former DMK Minister K. Ponmudi had previously made disparaging statements about women bus riders. Furthermore, DMK MP D.M. Kathir Anand insulted women by asserting, ‘You appear glamorous solely due to the Rs 1,000 you received’,” Nagendran added.

He pointed out that the Dravidian Model, which the DMK tends to boast about, seems more focused on promoting welfare programs rather than genuinely respecting the beneficiaries.

“On one side, the government extensively promotes these schemes for political gain, while on the other, its leaders mock the women who benefit from them. This reveals the true hypocrisy of the DMK,” he remarked.

Nagendran questioned why DMK leaders are so eager to insult poor and middle-class women yet neglect to improve the conditions of overcrowded, poorly maintained buses or ensure that the Rs 1,000 monthly assistance reaches all eligible women in the state.

“It is intolerable for those in authority to ridicule ordinary citizens. The DMK government must cease this culture of arrogance and apologize to the women of Tamil Nadu. Governance should prioritize service, not insult,” Nagendran asserted.

He urged the citizens of Tamil Nadu to recognize the DMK’s repeated insults towards women and to ensure that such conduct is not tolerated in a democratic society.
