Bengaluru, Oct 30 (NationPress) In light of the uproar regarding his supposed derogatory comments towards the Savita and Hadapada communities, former BJP National General Secretary and MLC C.T. Ravi has conveyed his regret, asserting that his statements have been misrepresented by individuals with ulterior motives.
The Savita and Hadapada communities are historically associated with the barber profession.
During a press interaction on Thursday, Ravi remarked, “It is being falsely suggested that I have disrespected the Savita community. I did not make any such remarks. There should be clarity to avoid misunderstandings. If my words have inadvertently offended the sentiments of the Savita community, I extend my apologies.”
He further noted, “Misinformation is being propagated on social media, falsely attributing statements to me. As a Hindutva activist, I would never insult anyone based on their caste.”
“I urge members of the Savita and Hadapada communities to disregard any possible misunderstandings. Some individuals are misinterpreting my words, while others are intentionally spreading falsehoods. I will advocate for an investigation into this matter,” he added.
In response, the Karnataka Congress took to social media platform X, criticizing Ravi, stating, “BJP’s self-declared guardian of culture, MLC C.T. Ravi, who previously displayed his disgraceful conduct by insulting a woman minister in the Assembly, has once again let his words run amok.”
The Congress party claimed that his derogatory comments towards the Savita community reflect the true culture of the BJP and the ideological teachings of the Sangh.
“Is this the same ‘Manusmriti-inspired casteist lesson’ that the RSS has taught BJP leaders, who have consistently shown disrespect towards women, Dalits, and marginalized classes?”
“C.T. Ravi, who has made remarks that dishonor the Savita community, along with the BJP supporting him, must promptly apologize to the people of the state and to the Savita community,” demanded the Congress.
This incident unfolded recently during Ravi’s visit to Chikkamagaluru Medical College. He reportedly became agitated upon discovering that the dean was absent, despite prior notification of his visit.
While admonishing the dean for his absence, Ravi allegedly used a derogatory term, questioning what the dean thought of him. A video of this incident went viral on Thursday, igniting the controversy.
