Patna, Oct 15 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its second list of 12 candidates on Wednesday.
This list includes two notable figures — the renowned folk singer Maithili Thakur and retired IPS officer Anand Mishra.
As widely anticipated, Maithili Thakur, celebrated as the daughter of Bihar for her significant contributions to Maithili and Bhojpuri folk music, has officially secured a BJP nomination from the Alinagar Assembly constituency in Darbhanga.
Thakur joined the BJP on Tuesday evening, just hours after the release of the party’s first candidate list.
Her inclusion and nomination were framed by the party as a move to enhance cultural and youth engagement in Bihar.
On the other hand, IPS officer Anand Mishra is set to contest from the Buxar Assembly seat.
Mishra, who previously served in the police department, joined the BJP ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. After not receiving a ticket in the Lok Sabha elections, he briefly joined Jan Suraaj but has now returned to the BJP with aspirations of participating in the assembly elections.
The BJP had released its first list of 71 candidates on October 14, which encompassed both Deputy Chief Ministers — Samrat Choudhary (Tarapur) and Vijay Kumar Sinha (Lakhisarai), alongside 12 ministers, 48 sitting MLAs, and 9 women candidates.
However, several prominent leaders such as Nand Kishore Yadav and Arun Sinha were not granted tickets.
With today’s announcement, the BJP has now disclosed 83 candidates out of the 101 seats it is vying for under the NDA seat-sharing arrangement.
The third and final list, which will reveal the remaining 18 candidates, is anticipated shortly.
In addition to Maithili Thakur and Anand Mishra, the party has nominated Ramchandra Prasad from Hayaghat, Ranjan Kumar from Muzaffarpur, Subhash Singh from Gopalganj, Kedar Nath Singh from Baniapur, Choti Kumari from Chhapra, Vinay Kumar Singh from Sonpur, Virendra Kumar from Rosera, Siyaram Singh from Barh, Mahesh Paswan from Agiaon, and Rakesh Ojha from Shahpur.
