New Delhi, Oct 7 (NationPress) As Bihar gears up for its electrifying Assembly elections in just a month, renowned folk artist Maithili Thakur appears poised to make her entry into politics, possibly running on a BJP ticket from her native district, Darbhanga. After her meeting with BJP leaders such as Nityanand Rai and Vinod Tawde, she expressed her admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Thakur, celebrated for her efforts to uplift Maithili culture and folk music, confirmed that talks with senior BJP officials have occurred, yet no final decisions regarding her political journey have been made.
In her conversation with the media, Thakur stated, “We engaged with Nityanand Rai and Vinod Tawde to discuss several crucial aspects of Bihar's progress.”
She openly expressed her respect for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, referring to him as her guiding light.
“He is my favorite leader and political icon. The way he engages with the public is unparalleled. When he speaks, hours seem to vanish, as if the dialogue has only just begun.”
When queried about her political inclinations, the young artist remarked, “I am drawn to the BJP due to my ideological alignment with the party. I aspire for the nation's advancement, and starting from my village would be an immense honor.”
Thakur shared that her decision to enter politics has developed recently.
“Initially, the thought of running for office had never crossed my mind, but it gradually began to take shape. Particularly after connecting with two senior leaders in the past four days, this notion has gained traction,” she explained.
Reflecting on the transformations in Bihar, she recalled the mass exodus during the RJD governance, stating, “My father and many others of his era experienced the 'Jungle Raj'. On my recent trip to London, I noticed that a significant number of esteemed doctors and engineers from Bihar and Mithilanchal reside there, having left during those turbulent times without the chance to return home.”
Addressing women's empowerment, she remarked, “The plight of women during that era is well-known. However, today, women are stepping out with newfound confidence and making significant strides.”
In response to opposition claims of vote tampering, Thakur firmly refuted them: “These allegations are baseless. The public continues to support and trust Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.”
The distribution of seats within the NDA alliance is still pending, and the candidate list has yet to be revealed. Bihar will hold elections in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results expected on November 14.
