Hyderabad, July 1 (NationPress) The newly appointed president of the BJP's Telangana unit, N. Ramchander Rao, made a firm commitment on Tuesday to enhance the party's presence in order to realize its ambition of gaining power in the state and addressing the needs of the populace.

After assuming his role as the state president through a unanimous vote, he urged party members to prepare for a successful transition to governance in Telangana.

He emphasized that the BJP must take power in Telangana to build a democratic and ‘viksit’ Telangana, asserting that the public is turning towards the saffron party.

“The people desire a BJP administration. Without adequate preparation, we cannot achieve power. Our primary objective as a political entity is to gain governance. For this to happen, our workers must engage with the community,” he stated.

Rao encouraged party members to get ready for the upcoming local body elections and noted that the BJP should establish its influence from the Panchayat level all the way to Parliament.

He reaffirmed that the BJP is an ideological and cadre-driven party, stressing the importance of evolving into a mass-based organization within Telangana.

“To raise the saffron flag on the Golconda fort, dedicated efforts from party workers are essential,” he remarked.

He clarified that there would be no divisions between senior and junior leaders. “Any discussion of differences between the old and new leadership is detrimental to the party,” he mentioned.

Rao also called upon Telangana's youth to enter politics and join the BJP, inviting women to participate as well, highlighting the Modi government's commitment to providing 33 percent reservation for them.

He pledged that the BJP would lead the charge against the Congress government's policies that are detrimental to the people.

Reflecting on the early days of the Jan Sangh, Rao acknowledged the sacrifices of many workers and leaders that contributed to the party's growth in Telangana. “Currently, we have eight MLAs, eight MPs, one Rajya Sabha member, and three MLAs,” he said.

He expressed pride in leading the world’s largest party, with 14 crore members, and attributed his success to the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, J. P. Nadda, and Telangana leaders such as G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar.

Rao stated that his new role as the state BJP chief is a recognition for all party workers. “I will operate as a party worker. You are the true leaders of the party,” he conveyed to his colleagues.

He assured that leadership would be collective and emphasized that unilateral decisions would be avoided.

Despite facing resistance from some within the party, leading to the resignation of MLA T. Raja Singh, Rao stressed the importance of discipline and warned against indiscipline.

An advocate by profession, he accused the Congress and BRS of disseminating misinformation on social media and cautioned that those engaging in trolling could face legal consequences.

Earlier, Shobha Karandlaje, Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment, announced Rao’s unanimous election, while G. Kishan Reddy officially handed over the responsibilities of state president to him.

Congratulating Rao, Kishan Reddy expressed confidence in his ability to further strengthen the party’s cadre to achieve the vision of a Viksit Telangana, an essential step toward building a Viksit Bharat.

Present at the event were Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay, senior leader Vidyasagar Rao, and MPs K. Laxman, D. K. Aruna, and others.
