Hyderabad, May 13 (NationPress) Amidst speculation of divisions within the family of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), his nephew and prominent party figure T. Harish Rao declared his willingness to embrace the leadership of KCR's son, K. T. Rama Rao.
The former minister dismissed rumors suggesting he might defect from the party. He informed reporters that he is prepared to operate under the guidance of K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) following KCR.
“I have reiterated this multiple times, and I assure you again. My leader remains KCR, and I will adhere to whatever directives KCR provides,” stated Harish Rao, a representative in the Telangana Assembly from Siddipet.
The BRS leader mentioned that false information was circulating on social media, which he has already refuted. He noted that several party members have lodged complaints with law enforcement against certain social media platforms responsible for disseminating these rumors.
Harish Rao, who has been a part of the BRS since its inception by KCR 25 years ago, emphasized that he is a loyal party worker and there is no possibility of opposing the party's decisions.
“Should KTR be assigned the leadership role, I will extend my complete support. I will follow KCR’s decision,” he asserted.
Speculations regarding a rift within the KCR family have persisted for several weeks. Signs of discord were evident during a public gathering held in Hanamkonda district on April 27, celebrating the party's silver jubilee.
The promotional materials at this grand event featured only KCR and KTR, igniting rumors that the former chief minister was advocating for his son as his successor while sidelining his daughter K. Kavitha and nephew Harish Rao.
Reports of disagreements between KTR and Harish Rao have been circulating, even during BRS's time in power.
Since losing power to Congress in November 2023, the party has faced challenges. The dismal outcome in last year’s Lok Sabha elections, where they failed to secure any seats, was another significant setback.
While KCR has largely retreated to his farmhouse, KTR has taken charge of party affairs. Harish Rao continues to be an influential leader and a prominent voice in the Assembly.
Following her release from custody in the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam, Kavitha has also been actively addressing various issues, particularly those concerning increased reservations for backward classes.
Meanwhile, Harish Rao criticized the Congress government for its inability to procure agricultural produce from farmers. He expressed disappointment with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for focusing on the Miss World contest instead of addressing farmers' difficulties.
