Patna, Sep 29 (NationPress) The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) spokesperson and Samastipur MP, Shambhavi Choudhary, daughter of Bihar Minister Ashok Choudhary, firmly dismissed the corruption accusations made by Prashant Kishor, the President of Jan Suraaj, against the government led by Nitish Kumar, labeling them as "unfounded" and "politically driven".
In a media briefing following Kishor's claims that her family, including her father and mother-in-law, along with the Manav Vaibhav Vikas Trust, had accumulated illegal wealth, the Samastipur MP remarked that such allegations are a routine aspect of election periods.
"Allegations and counter-allegations are rampant during elections. This is not unexpected. My father and mother-in-law have both addressed the claims made by Prashant Kishor," she stated.
Describing the allegations as personal and groundless, Shambhavi Choudhary further mentioned, "He targeted my father-in-law, the late Kishore Kunal, and my mother-in-law, making a personal assault on them. They do not belong to a political lineage. The trust has committed no wrongdoing. They can speak a lot, but we will respond from our side, and their side will continue to speak, leading to no resolution."
She emphasized that the Manav Vaibhav Vikas Trust is prepared to formally present its perspective.
"The accusations are groundless and false. There is nothing hidden. The Trust will clarify its position when necessary," stated the LJP leader.
These comments arise amid a growing political confrontation in Bihar, where Kishor has alleged that Minister Ashok Choudhary has acquired properties valued at Rs 200 crore and has accepted commissions on government contracts - allegations the Minister has denied.
During a press conference on Monday, Kishor claimed to have documented evidence supporting his assertions about Ashok Chaudhary's alleged disproportionate assets and demanded that the Minister retract a legal defamation notice of Rs 100 crore and issue a public apology within seven days, failing which he would escalate the matter to the Governor and the courts.
"We have already provided documents that demonstrate his asset acquisition worth Rs 200 crore. If Ashok Chaudhary believes the land isn't his, he needs to justify this to the public. Instead of engaging in dialogue, he now claims he will confront us politically. This strategy won't suffice," Kishor warned.
"If he does not withdraw his notice and apologize publicly, we will disclose documentation indicating assets worth Rs 500 crore in the next phase," he cautioned.
Kishor also accused Ashok Chaudhary's department of awarding contracts exceeding Rs 20,000 crore in the last eight months, alleging that the Minister received a five percent commission on each contract, along with an additional 0.5 percent each time departmental funds were released.
"This is the same money that goes to the department's engineers and was recently burned at an engineer's residence. In our upcoming press conference, we will present those who paid these five percent commissions," he added.
The Jan Suraaj founder intensified his critique of Bihar's political landscape, raising significant concerns regarding the multi-crore property acquisitions by the Manav Vaibhav Vikas Trust and demanding comprehensive financial transparency from its associates.
Kishor alleged that properties worth more than Rs 100 crore were bought from the trust's finances immediately following the engagement of Minister Ashok Chaudhary's daughter, Shambhavi Chaudhary, to Saayan Kunal.
"Where did this money originate?" Kishor questioned, calling for a public account from Jiyalal Arya, linked to the trust, alongside Anita Kunal (the wife of the late IPS officer and former Mahavir Mandir Secretary Kishore Kunal) and the mother-in-law of Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, who is also linked to the trust.
"These individuals should not tarnish the legacy of the late Kishore Kunal. They must convene a press conference and reveal the source of the funds and the trust's account details," he demanded.
