New Delhi, Sep 24 (NationPress) Bihar Minister and JD(U) leader Ashok Choudhary has vehemently denied the accusations made by Prashant Kishor, the chief of Jan Suraaj, who alleged that Choudhary has accumulated Rs 200 crore in "undeclared properties" within a mere two years. Choudhary labeled these assertions as unfounded, emphasizing that claims made during press conferences lack substance unless they are substantiated with credible evidence.
In response, the minister has issued a Rs 100 crore defamation notice to Kishor, demanding a public apology while warning of potential legal ramifications if the accusations are not retracted.
“We’ve sent a legal notice and questioned how properties can be deemed undisclosed when they are already included in our election affidavit?” Choudhary remarked.
“There exists a clear legal framework for confirming property ownership. In my case, I personally acquired the land, financially compensated for it, and disclosed it in my affidavit submitted to the Election Commission in April of the previous year. Thus, it cannot be labeled as a ‘benami’ (undisclosed or proxy-owned) property,” he elaborated.
Choudhary further challenged Kishor to substantiate his allegations with proof.
“If he asserts that there’s financial misappropriation amounting to crores, he should specify the accounts, identify the properties involved, and provide comprehensive details. Claims made during press conferences are not credible; we are prepared to counter through a sworn affidavit in court,” Choudhary declared.
Previously, Kishor accused several leaders from various parties of corruption, including BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal, Health Minister Mangal Pandey, and Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, alleging everything from bribery to counterfeit degrees.
However, the charges against Ashok Choudhary have elicited the most vigorous response. The JD(U) Minister asserts that such "groundless and politically motivated" accusations are aimed at creating sensationalism and misleading the public.
“If he doesn’t apologize, we are ready to escalate this matter to court,” Choudhary cautioned.
As the political atmosphere in Bihar intensifies ahead of the 2025 Assembly elections, the exchanges between political figures are becoming increasingly heated.
