What Factual Errors Did Congress Expose in MP Government's Official Diary?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bhopal, Jan 28 (NationPress) A controversy has arisen regarding inaccuracies found in the Madhya Pradesh government's official annual diary for the year 2026. The Congress party has pointed out that the diary continues to list the names of officials who have retired from their positions.
Congress spokesperson Vivek Tripathi stated that upon examining the official diary for 2026, numerous factual discrepancies were identified, including the omission of names for the heads of at least eight significant government departments.
"The diary published by the Madhya Pradesh government is not merely a general publication; it serves as an official reference for administration, elected officials, the media, social organizations, and the general populace. Therefore, such major errors raise serious questions about the government's commitment and administrative competence," Tripathi asserted.
He further claimed that individuals who were transferred years ago—and even those who have retired—are still listed as department heads or in other senior roles.
"There is a clear disconnect between the officers' names, their designated positions, and the relevant departments, which strongly indicates that the diary was prepared without proper updates or verification," Tripathi alleged.
He emphasized that these mistakes undermine the government’s credibility, lead to confusion and disorder at the administrative level, and illustrate a lack of coordination and accountability within the government.
Additionally, Tripathi noted that the mobile numbers of most government officials are absent from the diary, despite the government providing them with monthly allowances for these numbers.
"The names of Principal Secretaries from eight state departments—Prisons, Transport, Agriculture, Labour, School Education, Law and Legislative Affairs, Public Relations, and Women and Child Development—are missing from the diary," he stated.
Tripathi announced that the Congress has submitted a formal complaint to the office of Chief Secretary Anurag Jain regarding these issues on Wednesday.
