Darshan's Interim Bail Misused, Claims Special Public Prosecutor in Karnataka HC

Bengaluru, Dec 6 (NationPress) Special Public Prosecutor P. Prasanna Kumar argued before the Karnataka High Court on Friday that Kannada film star Darshan, who is facing charges in the high-profile fan murder case, has been exploiting the interim bail he received on medical grounds.
In his objections regarding the regular bail request, Prasanna Kumar stated that the interim bail was secured under the pretext of urgency, claiming that Darshan was at risk of a stroke. Two medical reports were submitted, indicating that Darshan is receiving treatment.
“After a period of 20 days, a report was presented noting that fluctuations in Darshan's blood pressure were observed. The doctors are also suggesting that preparations for surgery are underway. Any patient prescribed an Amlong 50 MG tablet typically sees their blood pressure normalize within a day. Anesthesia can stabilize blood pressure during surgery,” he contended.
Prasanna Kumar emphasized that in Darshan's case, theatrical scenarios reminiscent of film plots are being fabricated.
“The conditions of the interim bail are being misused. They will assert that Darshan is on the verge of a stroke once again. As surgery has yet to take place, I urge the court to revoke the bail,” he stated.
When the Bench inquired about the duration of the bail granted on medical grounds, Prasanna Kumar replied, “It is set to expire next week.”
C.V. Nagesh, representing Darshan, informed the court that the date for Darshan's surgery has been established and that this information will be relayed to the court.
Following the presentation of arguments, the court has postponed the hearing until December 9.
Darshan, along with his partner Pavithra Gowda and 15 others, were arrested on June 11, accused of kidnapping and violently murdering his fan Renukaswamy from Chitradurga.
Renukaswamy reportedly sent inappropriate and offensive messages to Pavithra Gowda, expressing discontent over the actor's relationship with her despite his marriage.
Darshan was moved to Ballari Prison after images depicting his 'luxurious treatment' at Bengaluru Central Prison emerged. He is facing three FIRs related to this incident.
The police filed a comprehensive 3,991-page chargesheet on September 4 regarding the fan murder case.
An additional chargesheet was also submitted to the court.
Darshan was released from prison on October 30 after serving 131 days.
The Karnataka High Court granted him conditional bail for six weeks based on medical grounds, as he is currently being treated at BGS Apollo Hospital in Bengaluru for severe back pain.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka Police have lodged an appeal with the Supreme Court contesting the medical bail awarded to Darshan in the fan murder case.
The state government is seeking to revoke the bail granted to Darshan, and sources indicate that this matter is expected to be addressed by the Apex Court soon.
While Darshan was granted conditional bail on medical grounds due to claims of severe back pain and potential stroke risk without surgery, he has yet to undergo the procedure.
Currently, he is receiving physiotherapy treatment, and it has been reported to the court that his blood pressure remains unstable. Meanwhile, the Karnataka High Court continues to evaluate arguments regarding his regular bail application.
