Karnataka High Court Grants Bail to Actor Darshan and Pavithra Gowda in Renukaswamy Murder Case

Bengaluru, December 13 (NationPress) The Karnataka High Court has granted bail to Kannada film star Darshan and his partner Pavithra Gowda in relation to the Renukaswamy murder case on Friday.
The bench, presided over by Justice Vishwajith Shetty, also approved bail for accused individuals Nagaraju, Anukumar, M. Laxman, Jagadish, and Pradoosh Rao.
Senior attorney C. V. Nagesh represented Darshan, while the prosecution was represented by Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) P. Prasanna Kumar.
Gowda's lawyer Shilpa stated that bail was granted based on arguments challenging her involvement in the case.
Currently detained in the Central Prison of Parappana Agrahara, located on the outskirts of Bengaluru, Gowda is set to be released on Monday.
During discussions regarding the regular bail application, C. V. Nagesh refuted the objections posed by the SPP, highlighting that although Renukaswamy's body reportedly contained 39 blood stains, there was only a single bleeding injury.
Nagesh contended that at every phase, from the collection of eyewitness accounts to the investigative process, the prosecution has deceived the court.
The bail was granted based on a report from doctors in Ballari, with the medical team at BGS Hospital also acknowledging their findings, which confirmed the necessity for surgery for the actor.
"We must follow through with the operation as advised by the doctors. This cannot be postponed for three or four weeks," he argued.
Previously, SPP P. Prasanna Kumar informed the Karnataka High Court that Darshan was “misusing” the interim bail granted on medical grounds.
He raised objections regarding the regular bail, claiming that the interim bail was obtained under urgent pretenses, suggesting the actor was at risk of a stroke.
Prasanna Kumar further remarked that dramatic scenarios are often orchestrated in Darshan's case.
Recently, the court had prolonged Darshan's interim bail due to medical reasons.
Darshan was released from custody on October 30 after spending 131 days behind bars.
He was admitted to BGS Apollo Hospital in Bengaluru for treatment of severe back pain.
Darshan, his partner Gowda, and 15 others faced arrest on June 11 for charges of kidnapping and the brutal murder of his fan Renukaswamy from Chitradurga.
Renukaswamy had reportedly sent derogatory and obscene messages to Pavithra Gowda, having been upset over the actor's relationship with her despite being married.
