Karnataka Police Contest Actor Darshan's Interim Bail in Supreme Court Over Fan Murder Case

Bengaluru, Dec 5 (NationPress) The Karnataka Police have submitted an appeal petition to the Supreme Court, challenging the medical bail that was granted to Kannada superstar Darshan by the High Court concerning the fan murder case, as reported by sources on Thursday.

The state government is seeking the revocation of the bail that was awarded to Darshan. Sources indicated that this issue is expected to be addressed by the Apex Court in the near future.

Darshan received conditional bail on medical grounds, with the court being informed that the actor was experiencing significant back pain and faced the risk of a stroke if surgery was delayed. However, he has yet to undergo the necessary surgery.

Currently, the actor is receiving physiotherapy treatment, and it was reported to the court that his blood pressure remains unstable. Meanwhile, the High Court is actively considering arguments related to the regular bail petition filed by him.

On June 11, Darshan, along with his partner Pavithra Gowda and 15 others, was arrested on allegations of kidnapping and violently murdering his fan, Renukaswamy, from Chitradurga. Renukaswamy had purportedly sent inappropriate and derogatory messages to Pavithra Gowda, which led to tensions due to Darshan's relationship with her despite being married.

After images emerged depicting his 'royal treatment' at the Bengaluru Central Prison, Darshan was relocated to Ballari Prison. He is currently facing three FIRs related to this incident.

The police filed a comprehensive 3,991-page charge sheet on September 4 regarding the fan murder case.

Darshan was released from custody on October 30 after serving 131 days in prison. The High Court granted him conditional medical bail for six weeks. He is currently hospitalized at BGS Apollo Hospital in Bengaluru, receiving treatment for severe back pain, but has not yet undergone surgery, according to sources.

Previously, the prosecution informed the High Court that the Kannada superstar, who is out on medical bail in the fan murder case, has not complied with the conditions set forth during the bail grant. Special Public Prosecutor Prasanna Kumar made this assertion while the High Court reviewed the petition seeking regular bail for the actor in this high-profile case. He also noted that a copy of the latest medical report had not been provided to him.

The bail was initially granted for six weeks on medical grounds, but the date for the required surgery has not been communicated yet. Darshan's attorney, C.V. Nagesh, subsequently submitted the actor's latest medical report to the court.

In addition, the police have submitted an extra charge sheet to the court concerning the case.
