Karnataka High Court Grants Actor Darshan Extended Interim Bail on Health Reasons

Bengaluru, Dec 9 (NationPress) The Karnataka High Court has granted an extension of interim bail to Kannada superstar Darshan on health grounds, continuing until the next hearing in the high-profile fan murder case.

Darshan's attorney, C.V. Nagesh, presented a request for the bail extension based on medical needs, as the initial interim bail was set to expire on December 11.

Additionally, Nagesh informed the court that Darshan's surgery is scheduled for December 11, thus necessitating an extension of the medical bail.

After considering the plea, the court has approved the extension until the upcoming hearing.

The counsel stated: "It has been four weeks since Darshan's check-up, and we cannot compel an operation to happen immediately. There is no urgency to perform the procedure simply because time is passing."

A report from November 11-21 indicated fluctuations in blood pressure, alongside another report submitted on December 5, indicating that Darshan is receiving steroid injections. To prepare for general anesthesia, he is being stabilized, according to his attorney.

Ongoing physiotherapy and exercises are in place, and surgery is planned for December 11.

Thus, Darshan has adhered to the interim court orders, and we urge the court to consider this, the counsel requested.

During discussions about the regular bail request, Nagesh countered objections from the Special Public Prosecutor (SPP), highlighting that while Renukaswamy's body reportedly had 39 blood stains, only one bleeding injury was identified.

A 2.5 cm wound was found on Renukaswamy's body. He contended that the post-mortem report had been altered by doctors in collusion with the prosecution.

He claimed that the prosecution had been dishonest at every stage, from recording eyewitness statements to conducting the investigation.

The bail was granted based on a report from doctors in Ballari. The doctors at BGS Hospital corroborated the findings of the Ballari doctors, affirming the necessity for surgery.

"We must proceed with the operation as advised by the medical professionals. It cannot be performed on demand after three or four weeks," he argued.

The court has heard all arguments regarding the regular bail plea from the actor and has reserved judgment on the bail petitions involving Darshan, his partner Pavithra Gowda, and others.

Earlier, Special Public Prosecutor P. Prasanna Kumar expressed to the Karnataka High Court that Darshan, implicated in the fan murder case, has been exploiting the interim bail granted on medical grounds.

He submitted objections against granting regular bail, asserting that the interim bail was sought due to an emergency, indicating that Darshan was at risk of a stroke. Two medical reports were presented to the court, indicating that Darshan is undergoing treatment.

"After 20 days, a report was submitted indicating that fluctuations were detected in Darshan’s blood pressure. They also assert that preparations for surgery are being made. Any patient administered an ‘Amlong 50 MG’ tablet will have their blood pressure normalize within 24 hours. The doctors will stabilize the blood pressure levels while administering anesthesia,” he argued.

Prasanna Kumar further remarked that in the case of Darshan, exaggerated scenarios are being created akin to film plots.

Darshan, his partner Pavithra Gowda, and 15 others were apprehended on June 11, facing charges of kidnapping and brutally murdering his fan Renukaswamy from Chitradurga.

Renukaswamy allegedly sent derogatory messages to Pavithra Gowda, stemming from his displeasure over Darshan's relationship with her despite his marriage.

Darshan was transferred to Ballari Prison after images surfaced depicting his 'royal treatment' at Bengaluru Central Prison. He is currently facing three FIRs related to this case.

The police submitted an extensive 3,991-page chargesheet on September 4 concerning the fan murder case.

Additionally, the police provided an extra chargesheet to the court regarding the case.

Darshan was released from incarceration on October 30, having spent 131 days in jail.

The Karnataka High Court granted him conditional bail on health grounds for six weeks. The actor is currently hospitalized at BGS Apollo Hospital in Bengaluru, receiving treatment for severe back pain.

In the meantime, the Karnataka Police has lodged an appeal with the Supreme Court contesting the interim bail awarded to Darshan by the High Court in relation to the fan murder case.
