Confirming the details, IG Garhwal Range, Rajeev Swaroop, stated, “An incident has taken place involving a person named Arjun Sharma, who was shot by some assailants. He was then taken to Doon Hospital, where he was declared dead. The SSP Dehradun has already visited the site.”
Police have secured the area and initiated a manhunt to apprehend the suspects. Forensic teams are collecting evidence from the crime scene, and CCTV footage from nearby businesses is under review to identify the shooters.
A colleague, Vijay, who had worked with Sharma for several years, claimed that the deceased was involved in a property deal worth around Rs 40–42 crore with an individual named Vijay Uniyal. He alleged that Sharma had previously received threats related to this property dispute.
The police confirmed they are exploring all angles, including the alleged property conflict. This case is associated with the Vasant Vihar Police Station jurisdiction.
IG Swaroop assured that strict measures would be enforced, stating, “We will conduct a thorough review of this incident. Any negligence found among personnel will result in strict action. We aim to enhance effective policing strategies to prevent and control such crimes.”
He noted that while 2025 was largely incident-free, there has been a minor increase in such occurrences over the past 15–20 days.
“We are analyzing every facet of this case. Accountability and responsibility will be clearly defined, especially for the Station House Officer and area officer responsible for any incidents within their jurisdiction,” the IG added.
