New Delhi, Jan 4 (NationPress) The inaugural session of the Delhi Assembly in 2023 will commence with the patriotic song 'Vande Mataram' on Monday, followed by an address from Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena. This marks the beginning of a four-day assembly session during which crucial reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) regarding the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government's missteps are anticipated.

The fourth session, or Winter Session, of the eighth State Assembly of the National Capital Territory will include discussions on CAG reports concerning expenditures on the former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's official residence, the Delhi Jal Board financials, and allegations of corruption in government-funded colleges.

This Assembly session is scheduled to take place from January 5 to 8.

Previously, Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra stated that, in addition to revealing financial discrepancies of the past AAP administration, the current BJP government led by Rekha Gupta will also address the issue of pollution during this Winter Session.

"Scientific assessments relating to pollution over the last two decades will be presented to the House. We will also discuss the challenges faced in combating pollution and outline future action plans," Minister Mishra elaborated.

The BJP-led Delhi government is keen on fostering a constructive dialogue for a unified approach against pollution, welcoming insights from opposition members as well.

Reinforcing the Gupta government's strict stance on corruption, Minister Mishra remarked, "Any official caught soliciting bribes or involved in corrupt activities will face the same consequences as the two officers recently suspended due to their misconduct."

This statement referred to the suspension of a Tehsildar and a Sub-Registrar from the Revenue Department, which was enacted by Chief Minister Gupta on December 29, 2025, over alleged misconduct.

Minister Mishra criticized AAP leaders for disseminating falsehoods to maintain media presence, asserting, "For a decade, they governed through deceit. Their dishonesty led to their defeat at the polls. Now, they believe they can continue lying from the opposition—a strategy that led to their downfall and will not bring them back to power."

He also directed criticism toward the AAP administration in Punjab, accusing them of failing to deliver on electoral promises.

"There were essential decisions in Punjab that you neglected. Addressing them now would be wise," he remarked, responding to AAP leaders' claims that the Gupta-led Delhi government has not met its poll commitments.

Point of View

It's essential to recognize the significance of the upcoming Delhi Assembly session. With critical discussions on financial accountability and environmental issues, this assembly will be a litmus test for the current government. It’s crucial for the BJP to demonstrate its commitment to transparency and public welfare, especially in the face of previous allegations against AAP.
