Delhi BJP Raises Alarm with ECI Over Electoral Roll Inclusions of ‘Rohingya and Bangladeshi Infiltrators’

New Delhi, Dec 13 (NationPress) A delegation from the Delhi BJP, headed by President Virendra Sachdeva, convened with Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar on Friday to formally protest against the presence of names belonging to alleged infiltrators of Rohingya and Bangladeshi origin within the city’s electoral rolls.

In his capacity as the leader of the delegation, Sachdeva highlighted concerns regarding duplicate entries, voters who no longer reside at their registered addresses, and the inclusion of deceased individuals’ names on the rolls.

Sachdeva presented a comprehensive report to the ECI, accompanied by substantial evidence spanning 5,000 pages, and urged prompt action to guarantee a transparent Assembly election scheduled for around February.

The delegation included notable members such as the National Convenor of the Election Coordination Committee for Delhi BJP, Om Pathak, Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra, MP and Senior Advocate Bansuri Swaraj, Delhi BJP Media Head Praveen Shankar Kapoor, and Convenor of the Delhi BJP Election Committee, Advocate Sanket Gupta.

During discussions, the Delhi BJP President expressed astonishment at the unusually high number of new voter registrations occurring between the conclusion of the Lok Sabha elections and the upcoming Assembly elections.

Based on an August 2024 circular from the ECI, Sachdeva indicated that BJP workers had traversed all 70 Assembly constituencies and discovered the presence of a significant number of Bangladeshi or Rohingya-origin infiltrators registered as voters in Delhi.

Each constituency in Delhi is also burdened with a considerable number of voters who are either deceased or have permanently relocated outside the city.

He urged the ECI to initiate a campaign against the registration of illegal voters and address the issue of illegal voting.

The Delhi BJP President called on the ECI to launch a radio and print media campaign aimed at discouraging and warning bogus voters with the threat of imprisonment.

Following a lengthy meeting with the ECI, Sachdeva informed journalists that the BJP is determined to prevent infiltrators and bogus voters from participating in the forthcoming elections.

MP Advocate Bansuri Swaraj presented a legal submission to the ECI, detailing 18 strong pieces of evidence that showcase the registration of infiltrators of Rohingya and Bangladeshi origin.

She referenced voter lists from various Assembly constituencies, illustrating instances where an individual with identical family details and addresses appeared multiple times as a registered voter with different EPICs.

Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra drew the ECI's attention to the misleading narrative propagated by the AAP government in Delhi, which claims the BJP is opposing voters of Indian descent on the electoral list.

Senior leader Om Pathak requested the ECI to ensure a conducive environment for free, fair, and transparent elections in Delhi.
