During the inauguration of the DDA’s Mini Sports Complex in Sukhdev Vihar, Saxena remarked that this new facility aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of enhancing the quality of life and fostering a healthy lifestyle.
Spanning an area of 7,552.636 square meters, the complex features outdoor facilities such as badminton, lawn tennis, a cricket practice pitch, pickleball, a children's park, and a jogging track. Access to these sporting amenities is available on a pay and play basis.
Saxena stated, “Since my appointment as Lt. Governor in May 2022, I have prioritized ensuring that the residents of Delhi have access to ample sports facilities, which are vital for our well-being.”
“I am delighted to present this facility to the people of Delhi, especially those residing nearby,” he added, encouraging the youth to utilize the amenities provided by the DDA and to maintain them properly.
“Without public support, no initiative can thrive,” he stressed, underscoring the need for community involvement in the maintenance of government-managed facilities.
Prominent figures at the event included Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Member of Parliament (South Delhi), N. Saravana Kumar, Vice Chairman (DDA), and other senior DDA officials.
Recently, the Lt. Governor also inaugurated the First Centre of Excellence for sports in Dwarka, Sector-8, which specializes in boxing, wrestling, weightlifting, and taekwondo, offering a wide variety of indoor and outdoor sports.
Additionally, the city saw the introduction of the longest 18-hole golf course in Dwarka Sector-24, aimed at enhancing professional golf training for aspiring golfers, according to an official statement.
