Digi Yatra Surpasses 9 Million Active Users with 30,000 Daily App Downloads

Bengaluru, Dec 26 (NationPress) Digi Yatra has surpassed 9 million active users to date, with an impressive daily average of 30,000 app downloads, it was announced on Thursday.
The self-sovereign identity (SSI)-based ecosystem employs face-biometric technology for contactless and seamless passenger processing at airports, revolutionizing the travel experience, according to the Digi Yatra Foundation.
Initially starting with only three airports in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Varanasi, it has expanded to an extensive network of 24 airports nationwide. The platform has facilitated over 42 million seamless journeys, highlighting the increasing trust and acceptance among travelers.
“2024 was a pivotal year for Digi Yatra as it transformed into a nationwide digital ecosystem, redefining how Indians engage with air travel. This year has focused on establishing trust beyond just technological advancements,” stated Suresh Khadakbhavi, CEO of Digi Yatra Foundation.
Looking ahead, “we are eager to maintain our growth momentum by adding four more airports in the early months of 2025,” he further noted.
By March 2025, Digi Yatra aims to support all 22 official languages, enhancing accessibility for travelers across the country.
A significant achievement in 2024 was Digi Yatra’s partnership with the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
In October, Digi Yatra also launched the d-KYC (Don't Know Your Customer) campaign, showcasing its dedication to user privacy and choice.
This campaign emphasized how Digi Yatra meets customer needs without storing or accessing their personal data.
Digi Yatra is also eyeing an ambitious international pilot project by June 2025, intending to conduct trials with foreign passengers possessing electronic passports (e-passports), as per the Digi Yatra Foundation.
This initiative will necessitate establishing bilateral agreements and demonstrating the platform's robust security. Additionally, a social media campaign will be launched to underscore that passenger information is not stored in any central repository.
