New Delhi, June 14 (NationPress) Bharatiya Janata Party MP Dinesh Sharma harshly criticized the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Saturday, alleging that they are politicizing both the legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and the recent tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad.

In response to a viral video from earlier this week showing former Bihar CM Lalu Yadav celebrating his 78th birthday with a portrait of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar placed near his feet, Sharma told IANS, “It’s widely recognized how the Congress and RJD regard the legacy of Dr. Ambedkar. Their arrogance is apparent. Nehru intentionally marginalized Ambedkar, fully aware of his potential, and denied him the Bharat Ratna. Even Indira Gandhi chose to honor herself instead of Ambedkar.”

Sharma pointed out that leaders like Lalu Prasad Yadav, who partner with the Congress, lack the ethical basis to discuss Ambedkar's contributions. “These individuals only acknowledge Ambedkar when it benefits their political aspirations. The reality is they have consistently disregarded his impact,” Sharma remarked.

The BJP Rajya Sabha MP also highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiatives to honor Ambedkar through the establishment of the 'Panchteerth'—five significant locations tied to Ambedkar’s life and contributions. “The BJP has sincerely honored Babasaheb, unlike those who merely invoke his name during election cycles.”

Expressing sorrow over the recent Air India crash in Ahmedabad that resulted in 241 fatalities, Sharma noted his personal connection to former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani, stating, “I had a close working relationship with Rupani ji. He was a compassionate and honorable man—former CM, former BJP state president, and MLA. This is a profoundly sorrowful moment for all of us. The entire nation is in mourning.”

Sharma condemned the Congress for allegedly leveraging this tragedy for political gain, stating, “At such a time of national grief, the Congress is attempting to exploit it politically. Rahul Gandhi once referred to these as ‘lame horses’ that need to be removed. Such individuals are part of their party,” he said.

“Criticize the administration, but do not manipulate the suffering of citizens for political advantage,” he added.

Point of View

It is crucial to uphold a stance that prioritizes national integrity. The politicization of historical legacies and recent tragedies must be met with scrutiny, ensuring that discussions remain respectful and focused on the nation's well-being.
