Chennai, Jan 5 (NationPress) The team behind director Mohan G Kshatriyan's highly anticipated historical movie 'Draupathi 2' has revealed that they have selected a different vocalist for the track 'Emkoney', which was initially performed by Chinmayi. They made it clear that Chinmayi's rendition will not be included in the theatrical release of the film.

In a conversation with reporters, both Mohan G Kshatriyan and producer Chola Shakkaravarthi confirmed the decision to bring in another singer for the track. "This song will be presented through a different artist's voice in the film," stated producer Chola Shakkaravarthi.

It is worth noting that after her recording, Chinmayi expressed remorse on social media for her participation in the song. She stated, "I sincerely apologize for my involvement in 'Emkoney'. I have known Ghibran, the composer, for 18 years since my jingle singing days. When his team approached me for this song, I went in and recorded it as I normally would. I later learned about the context, and had I known earlier, I would never have participated, as the ideologies clash with my beliefs. This is the truth."

Director Mohan G Kshatriyan mentioned, "I had allowed time until last week hoping for a response from her. A complaint has been filed with the director's union and another with the producers' council. We claim she has unjustly tarnished our film's reputation in public. Both complaints have been submitted to FEFSI, and while the process is lengthy, we have opted for an alternate singer."

The film has garnered significant buzz among audiences and cinephiles.

According to Mohan G Kshatriyan, the screenplay for this historical feature draws inspiration from a book titled Moondram Vallalla Maharaja, authored by historian Annal Kandar.

"The core historical events depicted in the film are rooted in factual occurrences, although we have exercised some creative freedom in character development. Crafting the script took nearly a year, as I had to engage with numerous individuals to deepen my understanding of the subject. The third Veera Vallalalar ruled from Thiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu, which serves as the film's backdrop," he elaborated.

Recently, the film's team unveiled a poster showcasing actor Chirag Jani as Mohammad Bin Tughlaq, much to the excitement of fans.

In a post shared on his timeline on X, Mohan G Kshatriyan remarked, "Terror Wears A Crown. Unveiling the Delhi Sultanate #MohdBinTughluq... @JaniChiragjani has truly embodied the role as the primary antagonist."

Set against the backdrop of 14th-century South India, this grand multilingual period film has recently completed its post-production phase and received approval from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a 'U/A' rating.

Insiders inform that the film will feature three formidable villains, with Chirag Jani stepping in as the first-level antagonist.

'Draupathi 2' stars Richard Rishi in the lead role, with Rakshana Indusudan playing the female lead and Natti Natraj in a significant part. The cast includes Y G Mahendran, Nadodigal Barani, Saravana Subbiah, Vel Ramamoorthy, Siraj Johnny, Dinesh Lamba, Ganesh Gaurang, Divi, Devayani Sharma, and Arunodayan.

The film is produced by Chola Shakkaravarthi (under Netaji Productions) in collaboration with G.M. Film Corporation, featuring cinematography by Philip R. Sundar, music by Ghibran Vaibodha, action choreography by Action Santosh, choreography by Thanika Tony, editing by Devaraj, and production design by Kamalnathan.
