Chennai, Feb 26 (NationPress) Renowned filmmaker Mohan G Kshatriyan, who gained recognition through his movie Draupathi featuring Richard Rishi and Sheela Rajkumar in prominent roles, announced the sequel Draupathi 2 on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivarathri.

In a message posted on his X account, Kshatriyan expressed, “By His divine grace and with respect to His feet, we shall uncover the hidden valorous and blood-soaked legacy of the brave warriors who laid down their lives for Dharma, often dismissed as insignificant. Before this year concludes, she returns to instill fear on the cinematic landscape once again - #Draupathi2.”

This announcement suggests that the director aims to film and release the sequel by the end of the year.

Richard Rishi, brother-in-law of actor Ajith Kumar, will reprise his leading role in this sequel.

Music for the film will be composed by Ghibran. Notably, the movie will be released in multiple languages: Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada. Production will be handled by Sola Shakkaravarthi.

Significantly, a video clip unveiling the film’s title included the phrase, “Untold blood saga of 14th century Hoysalas.” This has sparked discussions about whether the film will depict a period war narrative.

Music director Ghibran tweeted, “Prepare to experience the untold blood saga of the 14th-century Hoysalas! Presenting the first look of #Draupathi2 on this auspicious day of #MahaShivaratri. Directed by @mohandreamer, starring @richardrishi. Stay tuned for an epic saga of courage and sacrifice!”

It is worth noting that the original Draupathi was surrounded by controversies regarding caste issues during its release.
