Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, April 20 (NationPress) Major General Vivek Tyagi, the Additional Director General of the NCC Directorate Maharashtra, announced on Monday the forthcoming establishment of a drone training centre in Nagpur specifically for NCC Cadets.
During a media briefing regarding the visit of a delegation from Mauritius to the NCC Maharashtra Directorate HQ, he stated, "The interaction with the Mauritius delegates was highly productive. The focus of our discussions was on youth empowerment and building a strong foundation for the future, as many nations are beginning to recognize the critical role of youth in national development. Mauritius is keen on creating improved opportunities for its younger generation and is learning from our NCC (National Cadet Corps) model by visiting our facilities and observing our infrastructure."
He further elaborated, "This delegation emphasized the significance of empowering the youth. We share profound cultural ties with Mauritius. They have engaged in various cadet programmes and even participated as a foreign nation in our Republic Day parade. Looking ahead, we anticipate broader exchange initiatives and collaborative training programmes tailored to their interests, such as disaster management and youth empowerment."
On the matter of land acquisition, General Tyagi remarked, "Acquiring land in Mumbai presents significant challenges. The Mumbai NCC is divided into two groups. I have consulted with the Maharashtra Governor, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar, and the Sports Authority of Maharashtra regarding land allocation for the NCC camp, and the government has responded positively. Our officers have identified a site that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will soon officially allocate for the NCC Maharashtra Directorate."
He continued, "In Nagpur, we are in the process of establishing the inaugural Drone Training camp for NCC cadets in Maharashtra. This initiative is progressing, and soon India will witness the launch of its first Drone Hub Academy for NCC cadets from the Army, Air Force, and Indian Navy. Our Armed Forces are actively involved, and I have granted all necessary approvals. Additionally, we are procuring various types of drones for the academy, where cadets will receive advanced training and education."
Moreover, ADG General Vivek Tyagi mentioned, "We are preparing to send the initial batch of 170 cadets from across Maharashtra to the drone training academy in Nagpur. This program will also cover cybersecurity training, as the prevalence of cyber threats is on the rise. To facilitate this, we will soon establish MOUs with various companies for cyber training."
