Sheikh Hasina: True Eid Happiness Awaits Our Victory
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Dhaka, March 21 (NationPress) Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, conveyed her Eid wishes to the populace, asserting that the genuine happiness of this festive occasion would be felt only with the success of the Awami League.
In a message disseminated by the Awami League on X, Hasina emphasized that although she is not physically in the nation, her commitment to the 'freedom of the citizens' remains unwavering.
"Even in my absence from my homeland, on this sacred Eid day, I pray for the well-being of every individual in the country. May Eid transform into a true celebration for each diligent laborer. I have consistently aimed to meet the fundamental needs of my country's populace to prevent them from facing poverty or becoming victims of conspiracies, both locally and internationally," Hasina stated.
She pointed out that it has become evident that a severe conspiracy has impacted the 'destiny of the impoverished people of Bangladesh'.
The former Prime Minister remarked that since August 5, 2024, the nation has taken on a prison-like atmosphere, with 'free-thinking' writers, journalists, and political activists being incarcerated at both national and local levels.
"I express my deepest empathy and sorrow for these innocent individuals and their families. Even though I am not physically beside you, know that, by the grace of the Almighty, I, the daughter of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, will not hesitate to sacrifice my life for your liberty and for the people of this country. The true joy of Eid will emerge at the moment of our triumph," she added.
Criticizing the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus, Hasina stated, "The misguided policies of the previous occupying Nazi-like Yunus administration, along with the ramifications of conflicts in the Middle East and other areas, have plunged the global economy into turmoil. Bangladesh is suffering from the repercussions of this downturn, making it difficult for the underprivileged to maintain a decent standard of living."
By highlighting the dire circumstances in Bangladesh, Hasina urged "wealthy and privileged members of society to support the marginalized, so that everyone may enjoy happiness and the true essence of Eid."
